Adjectives For Bathroom

Adjectives For Bathroom

Loading you some adjectives... Won't be much longer! :)

Words to Describe Another Word

Below is a list of describing words for another word . You can sort the descriptive words by uniqueness or commonness using the button above. Sorry if there's a few unusual suggestions! The algorithm isn't perfect, but it does a pretty good job for most common nouns. Here's the list of words that can be used to describe another word :

Popular Searches

Words to Describe ~term~

As you've probably noticed, adjectives for "term" are listed above. Hopefully the above generated list of words to describe term suits your needs.

If you're getting strange results, it may be that your query isn't quite in the right format. The search box should be a simple word or phrase, like "tiger" or "blue eyes". A search for words to describe "people who have blue eyes" will likely return zero results. So if you're not getting ideal results, check that your search term, "term" isn't confusing the engine in this manner.

Note also that if there aren't many term adjectives, or if there are none at all, it could be that your search term has an abiguous part-of-speech. For example, the word "blue" can be an noun and an adjective. This confuses the engine and so you might not get many adjectives describing it. I may look into fixing this in the future. You might also be wondering: What type of word is ~term~?

Describing Words

The idea for the Describing Words engine came when I was building the engine for Related Words (it's like a thesaurus, but gives you a much broader set of related words, rather than just synonyms). While playing around with word vectors and the "HasProperty" API of conceptnet, I had a bit of fun trying to get the adjectives which commonly describe a word. Eventually I realised that there's a much better way of doing this: parse books!

Project Gutenberg was the initial corpus, but the parser got greedier and greedier and I ended up feeding it somewhere around 100 gigabytes of text files - mostly fiction, including many contemporary works. The parser simply looks through each book and pulls out the various descriptions of nouns.

Hopefully it's more than just a novelty and some people will actually find it useful for their writing and brainstorming, but one neat little thing to try is to compare two nouns which are similar, but different in some significant way - for example, gender is interesting: "woman" versus "man" and "boy" versus "girl". On an inital quick analysis it seems that authors of fiction are at least 4x more likely to describe women (as opposed to men) with beauty-related terms (regarding their weight, features and general attractiveness). In fact, "beautiful" is possibly the most widely used adjective for women in all of the world's literature, which is quite in line with the general unidimensional representation of women in many other media forms. If anyone wants to do further research into this, let me know and I can give you a lot more data (for example, there are about 25000 different entries for "woman" - too many to show here).

The blueness of the results represents their relative frequency. You can hover over an item for a second and the frequency score should pop up. The "uniqueness" sorting is default, and thanks to my Complicated Algorithm™, it orders them by the adjectives' uniqueness to that particular noun relative to other nouns (it's actually pretty simple). As you'd expect, you can click the "Sort By Usage Frequency" button to adjectives by their usage frequency for that noun.

Special thanks to the contributors of the open-source mongodb which was used in this project.

What to Consider When Choosing the Best Shower Mirror

Not all shower mirrors are created equal; in fact, some are more trouble than they're worth. When shopping for the best shower mirror that won't fog up, keep in mind these three considerations: the size of the mirror, its mounting options, and its safety features.

Size

The size of the shower mirror you choose should be determined by how you'll use the mirror and the amount of available space in the shower. For shaving and tweezing, a larger mirror will allow every part of the face to be visible and make these tasks more straightforward and less of a hassle—no more soap in the eyes or cutting the chin.

If there is limited space on the shower wall or you don't plan to perform a sensitive task like shaving in the shower, a smaller mirror could be more appropriate. Be sure to check how much space is available in the shower before purchasing a shower mirror.

Mounting

Almost all shower mirrors use a suction cup to mount them to the shower wall. However, there are variations of this method that can affect how well the suction cup adheres to the shower wall.

For example, some shower mirrors use a basic suction cup that relies on the moisture on the shower wall to ensure it stays attached, but these can sometimes lose their grip and send the mirror shattering to the floor. Other shower mirrors have a locking mechanism that ensures the suction cup will remain securely on the shower wall and not come loose over time.

Some shower mirrors forego suction cups and instead use a strong adhesive to attach to a shower wall. While adhesive tends to be more reliable than suction cups, it can leave a hard-to-clean residue when removed.

One consideration to keep in mind with any mounting type is the smoothness of the shower wall. Especially with suction cups, a rough or bumpy shower wall might make it hard to ensure the suction cup stays put. Smooth surfaces such as tile, acrylic, and glass are all ideal for applying suction cups or adhesive backing.

Safety

Imagine a suction cup losing its grip and sending a mirror crashing down into the shower. If the mirror is made of glass, this could be a dangerous mess. While shopping for the best shower mirror, be sure to look for shatterproof models. These are typically made of durable plastic or acrylic that won't shatter or crack if they fall.

While this shatterproof plastic or acrylic is the safest option, another way to have the safest possible shower mirror is to ensure it includes a secure and strong suction cup, so the mirror holds tight to the shower wall. If you notice over time that a shower mirror is losing its grip and falling off or even sliding down the shower wall, it's time to replace it.

Our Top Picks

It can be annoying to continually wipe away or rinse off a mirror that becomes fogged up in the shower. The best shower mirrors are the appropriate size for the shower space, remain secure after mounting, won't shatter if they fall, and won't fog up during a long, hot shower. Keeping these considerations in mind, read on to discover our top picks for some of the best shower mirrors available today.

The Best Shower Mirror Option: HoneyBull Shower Mirror for Shaving Fogless

Photo: amazon.com

Make shaving, tweezing, beard trimming, and face washing a breeze with this circular-shaped shower mirror by HoneyBull. It boasts an anti-fog coating that ensures it will remain fog-free; no need to run it under water to bring out the fogless capabilities. At 7 inches in diameter, this shatterproof plastic mirror is small enough to fit into almost any shower while still providing enough surface area to see clearly, while the 360-degree swivel enhances the ability to complete those shower tasks. It also features a convenient hook to hang a razor and is thin and small enough to take along when traveling.

The suction cup is easy to install and features a locking mechanism for safe mounting, ensuring it can hold onto most shower surfaces.

The Best Shower Mirror Option: XoYo-2PACK Fogless Shower Mirror

Photo: amazon.com

Run XoYo's stylish, shatterproof mirror under hot water to warm it up and equalize its temperature with that of the shower. This step allows the mirror to stay fog-free during the duration of the shower.

The mirror mounts to the shower wall easily via an adhesive hook. A built-in hole at the top makes it easy to slide the mirror onto the hook and hang it against the shower wall.

The Best Shower Mirror Option: Mirrorvana Fogless Shower Mirror for Shaving

Photo: amazon.com

Mirrorvana's 8-inch fogless shower mirror features a 360-degree swivel and is an ideal option for those needing to see different angles of their face to ensure a clean and safe shave. The fogless technology of this mirror works its magic due to the water basin behind the face of the mirror. Simply fill the basin with hot water from the sink or shower using the included plastic cup, and the water heats the mirror, preventing it from fogging up. For extra protection against fogging, this mirror is treated with an anti-fog coating.

The attached suction cup provides a locking mechanism that secures the mirror to a clean, flat, and smooth surface. If the suction does fail, the mirror won't break if it falls because of its shatterproof plastic construction.

There is also a handy razor holder at the front of the mirror, making it easy to keep the razor within reach.

The Best Shower Mirror Option: ToiletTree Products Deluxe LED Fogless Shower Mirror

Photo: amazon.com

Even in a dimly lit shower, the bright LED lights surrounding this shower mirror from ToiletTree Products will make shaving, tweezing, and face washing much safer and easier. It also boasts a fillable water chamber that heats the mirror to prevent fog and a small shelf below the mirror to hold a razor or other small items to make a morning routine go smoothly.

The acrylic material is shatterproof so the mirror won't break if it falls, though the adhesive on the back of the mirror makes it unlikely to lose its grip. While this method can sometimes leave behind a difficult-to-remove residue on a shower wall, this mirror features a silicone adhesive that won't leave behind residue.

The mirror is 7 1/2 inches tall by 9 1/2 inches wide, making it bigger than many other options and ideal for a larger shower.

The Best Shower Mirror Option: Cozylady Fogless Shower Mirror for Shaving

Photo: amazon.com

If having a stylish shower mirror is just as crucial as it being fogless, this model by Cozylady is an excellent option. Its simple design offers an air of elegance while still being functional. At almost 7 inches by 7 inches, this square mirror will remain fog-free for long periods of time due to a nano-layer covering the surface that simply needs to be sprayed with water to activate.

Installing this shower mirror is relatively straightforward but may require additional purchases. It comes with an adjustable chain and sticky pads but doesn't include suction cups or hooks to hang the mirror from the shower wall.

A combination of the shatterproof plastic of the mirror, the protective nano-layer covering, and the "anti-crash" plastic framework, helps prevent this item from breaking if it falls.

The Best Shower Mirror Option: ToiletTree Products Deluxe Larger Fogless Shower

Photo: amazon.com

ToiletTree Products ensures that this shower mirror will not fog due to its fillable water chamber. Simply fill this chamber with hot water from the shower or sink, and the mirror will remain fog-free for an easier and more comfortable task of shaving, tweezing, or washing in a steamy shower.

Offering a portrait design to fully view one's face, this shatterproof shower mirror is 8 inches tall by 6 1/2 inches wide. It's fully adjustable and can spin and rotate both up and down and side to side. All this movement is safe with the strong adhesive on the back of the mirror that secures it to the surface of the shower. The mirror's base provides a shelf with two convenient razor holders and room to keep the included squeegee to quickly clean the mirror and keep it free of water spots.

Yes, many shower mirrors have mounting parts that allow them to be safely hung in the shower.

Bathroom Shiplap Half Wall

Bathroom Shiplap Half Wall

Classic Cast-Iron Tubs

Thayer Allyson Gowdy

I live in a mobile home built around 1970, so there are about three layers of wallpaper in the bathroom. Once I got to the actual base, I realized that it wasn't paneling like the rest of the home. I'm not even really sure what it is -- it has a really grainy texture, almost like plywood. And now I have no idea what to do with it! All I know is that I don't want wallpaper. Please help!

Jennifer Muri

Dear Jennifer,
It sounds like the best solution to the grainy, plywood-textured walls in your bathroom is to cover them up, which is what the previous homeowners tried to do -- by wallpapering over them.

You'd be surprised at the number of good options that are on the market today for paneling. It's not the faux wood paneling of yesterday -- today, manufacturers can simulate almost anything using the latest technology. For example, if you prefer a tiled look, check out Georgia-Pacific's Lionite tileboard. These 4' x 8' boards have a baked-on, water-resistant melamine finish -- perfect for the bathroom. They are offered in a number of colors and textures and are available at most home improvement centers, including Home Depot (homedepot.com) and Lowe's (lowes.com). Georgia-Pacific also offers one of my favorite "quick fixes" -- Ply-Bead Panels. These 4' x 8' panels are made of durable southern pine and come in 1.6" beaded board. All you need to do is give them a coat of paint. Beaded board is a great look and, installed floor to ceiling, would cover your old plywood easily. Check out Georgia-Pacific's Website at www.gp.com. It offers great tips, product specs and installation guidelines that you might find helpful in your decision-making process.

Another option, which I also like, is the paintable textures from Graham & Brown. I know you said you didn't want wallpaper, but this is different. It is a prepasted product that is easy to install and has texture and pattern. Best of all, it's paintable, so you're not committed to one look -- you can change it to match your towels from season to season. It comes in a number of great patterns that would be appropriate for the bathroom. I like the "Linen" textured wallcovering. It would conceal your blemished wall, yet add a soft texture and a spalike feel to your space. These wall coverings are available at Home Depot, The Great Indoors (www.thegreatindoors.com) and Menards (www.menards.com), or you can call (800) 554-0887 to get more information about the product. The paper costs about $13 to $15 per 11-yard roll and is 20.5" wide.

Good luck with your project!

Jennifer

How To Cover Bathroom Window

10 Window Installation Tips

CC0/Free-Photos/Pixabay

The process of replacing or installing a brand-new window is somewhat complex. This guide focuses not on the step-by-step process, but instead on advice for performing correct installation. First-timers DIY installing windows for the home should incorporate these tips into their installation process.

Know the Parts by Their Proper Names

No matter how prepared you are, there's always a chance that you'll run into some issues when installing windows on your own. That's why it's important to know the exact names for all the parts and tools you'll need. You'll be able to ask for help, do extra research or buy replacement parts using the correct vocabulary.

CC0/psaudio/Pixabay

Measure the Middle

Don't just measure the height, width and length dimensions of the perimeter of the rough window opening. Instead. take measurements around the perimeter and in the middle, then compare. If there are any differences in your dimensions, which means you need to do some fill-in work with stud stock so you can even out the opening.

CC0/qimono/Pixabay

Check for Water Damage

Be sure to do a thorough check in the areas around the window, both inside and out, to make sure there's no water damage from the previous window. If you discover water damage, you'll need to be able to seal up the opening where the window was until you can get the damaged parts replaced.

CC0/annawaldl/Pixabay

Be Prepared to Replace or Supplement Insulation

Insulation may not be on your shopping list for your window replacement project, but you might want to add it. Depending on the scope of your installation, you may end up exposing some insulation in the walls. Water-damaged insulation should be removed and replaced, and if there doesn't appear to be enough around the windows, you can supplement it.

CC0/AKuptsova/Pixabay

Think About Water Incursions With Each Step

Windows are an easy point of entry for rainwater and other moisture, which can cause serious damage to your home. Be deliberate as you install the window, taking care to fold house wrap correctly. If you aren't working with house wrap, avoid applying flashing and flashing tape in such a way as to direct water down toward the window.

CC0/Life-of-Pix/Pixabay

Consider the Window's Location When Weatherproofing

The previous tips describe protecting your window from the elements, but these steps may not be necessary in all cases. If you're working with a window that's set underneath a roof overhang, certain window awning designs or otherwise protected from weather, for example, you may not want to spend the extra time and money to weatherproof.

CC0/paulbr75/Pixabay

Rough Opening Versus Window Size

Make sure the window you buy isn't the exact same size as the rough opening. Otherwise, it may not fit. The rough opening should be about 1/4 to 3/8 inch larger than the window. You'll fill in any gaps using caulk or other sealants after installing.

CC0/TheVirtualDenise/Pixabay

Test Fit Before Sealing

Before you run caulk or other sealant around the perimeter of the rough opening, do a dry fit run with the window first. Even if you've measured carefully multiple times, it's still best to make sure everything fits properly before you try to do the final installation. Use temporary nails to hold it in place.

CC0/BrooklynJohn/Pixabay

Level Is Part of Fit

While your window is held in place with temporary nails, use a spirit level on the bottom sill to make sure the window is level and square. Asymmetrical windows will look sloppy, so be sure not to skip this step.

CC0/jarmoluk/Pixabay
